Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Buyer II, are to: 

Determine production material buy quantities and provide data and vendor performance information for production components inventory to support sales, production and inventory plans and objectives for all plant controlled products;

Develop and implement inventory plans based on MRP requirements, production, inventory goals, departmental guidelines, and procurement objectives, contracts, etc.;
Oversee and assure the local ERP/Purchasing Systems including SAP-SNC and related data accurately reflect all production requirements and purchase orders to ensure adequate materials to meet all production and sales requirements;
Monitor vendor delivery, price and quality performance and recommend corrective action as required;
Resolve credit/payment issues with vendor and Accounts Payable as required at the plant level;
Develop and recommend production material cost reductions;
Execute packaging changes by working with the Process Technology group and material suppliers in the packaging change process;
Provide local plant production material inventory and purchasing information related to the change control process;
Provide all related cost, lead-times and information required to complete all change control documentation related to plant inventory components;
Represent the plant Supply Chain department on implementation teams to ensure all plant requirements are identified and accomplished;
Substitute for Buyer/Sr Buyer if not available (vacation, etc.) to facilitate urgent communications;
Support new product launches and special projects as needed;
Communicate effectively and promptly with all levels of the organization;
Supervise one or more non-exempt level employee;
Perform other duties that may be assigned as required.

Required Qualifications:

Non-degreed with at least seven years of supply chain management experience OR Associate’s degree with at least four years of supply chain management experience OR Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of supply chain management experience OR Master’s degree / M.B.A. with at least one year of supply chain management experience;

Demonstrated skills in using and analyzing automated ERP/MRP systems;
Inventory Management experience;
Strong organizational, communication (with internal and external customers), and time management skills;
Excellent PC skills including experience using spreadsheets;
Ability to deal with fast paced, multiple demands and very dynamic situations;
Demonstrated ability to handle conflict situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

SAP experience;

Industry certifications (APICS/C.P.I.M., ISM/CPSM);
Purchasing / procurement experience in an FDA regulated industry;
Previous supervisory experience;
Microsoft Office Software.
