Position Summary
Conducts ultrasonic tests on fabricated metallic and nonmetallic parts and products to identify discontinuities.
Reviews work orders, test procedure sheets, specifications and product acceptance criteria to determine test specifications.
Prepares techniques and scan plans.
Operates Ultrasonic test equipment which includes:
Set up of equipment
Calibration of equipment per requirements
Scanning product either by contact or immersion methods
Marks defective areas of part or products and prepares report of test findings, technique and worksheet.
Evaluates results of inspection
Sets up and operates computerized inspection equipment. Able to run and interpret C-Scan.
Uses cranes, forklifts and related tools to move heavy material into or out of work area.
Compiles daily production reports for all hours worked, cross referencing those hours to production jobs.
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience with aerospace material inspection and specification required. A minimum of 1200 hours experience performing inspection is required for a Level II certification.
