Job Description
Primary Purpose:
Performs executive security protection and other related services for executive leadership, members of the Board of Directors, and other designated personnel. Devoting full attention to the security mission and principles of protection, the ESS provides the protectee with a safe environment. Responsible for the safety and well-being of the protectee in his/her care and must take appropriate action in the event that the protectee becomes ill/injured and/or confronted by hostile persons. This is a full-time position based in San Diego, CA.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Meets at protectee’s residence or other designated location at the time required each day, to include evenings and weekends. Responsible for the safety and security of assigned protectee. This includes preparing safe transportation routes, evaluating the security of the protectee’s residence at departure and arrival, completing advances on destination points, and maintaining a presence when necessary at special events and functions. Must be constantly aware for unusual conditions or persons either while en route to or at the point of arrival/departure, in order to detect, deter, delay, deny, and/or defeat possible threats to the protectee. Conducts site advances at off-site locations, to include meetings, restaurants, and special events at both public and private venues. When necessary, completes required documentation such as site security reports and presentations. Receives direct supervision from the Manager, International Security & Executive Services, but dismissed by protectee(s).
Schedules and assigns all security and transportation requests for the Executives Services team. Responsible for the control, inventory, maintenance, and upkeep of all Executive Services equipment, to include motor vehicle fleet and electronic equipment.
Travels with protectee, both domestic and international, including extended days and weekends, and sometimes on short notice. Coordinates and oversees additional security support services, to include transportation services and contract security teams. Maintains professional liasion network with law enforcement entities and other organizations.
Attends specialized training in defensive driving, executive protection, certification in First Aid/CPR, defibrillator usage and first responder medicine (also known as TCCC: tactical combat casualty care). Attends briefings and trainings, and reads intelligence documents, all related to security matters affecting the protectee including general crime and safety issues.
Provides courier services for sensitive and confidential documents or materials for their assigned protectee and other executives or departments. Additional assignments include, but are not limited to, assisting department members with other security-related duties. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
Associates Degree a plus.
Experience:
5+ years experience in law enforcement and/or military dignitary protection.
5+ years experience in Executive protection in the private sector.
5+ years experience in protective intelligence analysis and application.
5+ years in Latin American security and Spanish language.
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledgeable of routes and locations throughout Southern California.
Current in executive protection knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Special event security planning and operations.
Residential security assessment and consulting.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid California driver license. Safe driving record. No chargeable accidents or violations over the last three (3) years.
Executive Protection or Driving Instructor certifications.
EMT or intermediate/advanced emergency medical certifications.
Other Qualifications:
If hired, must successfully complete an Executive Services training program in the first year, to include Executive Protection and Security Driver courses, and First Aid/CPR/AED and tactical medicine courses.
Must maintain high levels of physical fitness and possess extraordinary organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
