Job Summary

 

The Sr JV Accountant is responsible for performing the day-to-day and month-end processes along with working on partner cost recovery initiatives.  Effective communication with internal (Land, Operations, Finance, etc.) and external Joint Venture Partners (Op and Non-Op) is essential.  They are also accountable for the timely and accurate completion of all assigned and ad-hoc special projects.

 

The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to learn quickly, make process improvements, and maintain a solid control environment.  And can operate as a part of the team and assist teammates on challenges as well as focus on own initiatives and embrace development opportunities.

 

The Sr JV Accountant will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

 

Responsibilities

           

Become the Accounting expert on active production handling agreements and generate related invoices that can’t be produced by SAP
Compute annual company labor billable hourly rates for global use 
Calculate and track operated and non-op offshore payouts
Review monthly overhead calculations and operated offshore JIB data load
Advise proper overhead setups for new Gulf of Mexico AFE’s
Host joint venture accounting balance sheet reconciliation meetings and follow up on action items
Maintain offshore joint venture master data and manage necessary ownership adjustments
Build reallocation, billable and overhead adjustment workbooks as required
Address offshore partner and facility owner inquiries
Assist on various cost recovery efforts as opportunities arise
Ensure compliance of all tasks with relevant accounting standards and SOX controls
Contribute to SAP enhancement projects, and work with Accenture system support on testing

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum 7 years’ experience in oil and gas accounting with 5 years’ experience in joint venture accounting and audits
SAP JV related setups (cost center, equity group, JOA and etc.)
Experience with offshore operation situations and related operating & cost sharing agreements
Excellent Microsoft Excel knowledge
This is not an offshore role and will not be working a rotational schedule

Knowledgeable with payout calculations
Experience with cost recovery projects 
Comfortable with performing account reconciliations
Stay current on COPAS guidance
Working knowledge of drilling/development, construction, catastrophe, and operating overheads
Strong work ethic and excellent organizational skills
