Job Summary
Develops designs and estimates of multiple infrastructure and capital projects to produce a safe, maintainable and reliable railroad. Works with the Project Manager and coordinate with CSX Track, Signal & Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation and various consultants to design and estimate project costs. Work is complex in nature and is carried out with limited guidance.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
Develop from concepts, working across multiple disciplines and coordinating with the Project Manager and Project Sponsor, preliminary and detail designs on CSX Infrastructure projects working with General Engineering Consultant (GEC) and Signal Engineering Consultant (SEC).
Work with CSX Signal Construction, CSX Track & Civil Construction, CSX Environmental Group, CSX Real Property, Property Services and CSX Transportation Group to develop overall construction plan and in service plan for Infrastructure Projects.
Develop project estimates for the construction of complex Infrastructure Projects and prepare Authority For Expenditure's (AFE's) for review and input.
Participate with CSX Standards to evaluate new signal and track equipment and designs to ensure conformity to CSX Safety and Standard Policies.
Review invoices and Contractor Expenses associated with Infrastructure Projects and recommend approval/rejection to the Project Manager.
Attend Quarterly Quality Reviews with GEC / SEC.
Participate with Engineering Department Safety Initiatives including Monthly Safety Overlap Meetings, best practice job reviews and safety incident reviews.
Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
3 or more years of experience in Engineering (civil, structural, electrical, electronic, or mechanical)
Highly proficient in Auto Cadd
Highly proficient in Excel
Ability to read Contract Drawings
Equivalent Minimum Qualifications
Associates Degree/2-year Degree
5 or more years of experience in Engineering (civil, structural, electrical, electronic, or mechanical)
Highly proficient in Auto Cadd

Intermediate Oracle skills
