Job Description

The primary responsibilities of this role, Post Doc Genome Engineer, are to: 

Identify and develop new CRISPR based genome engineering tools and methods for applications in Crop Science;
Utilize appropriate bioinformatic tools and methods to identify novel genome engineering enzymes from genomic databases;
Collaborate with protein engineering teams in the Pharmaceutical division to develop and test novel enzymes;
Develop and apply genome engineering assay systems in plant cells and plants, including tissue culture-based transformation methods;
Apply analytic and statistical methods to data;
Provide written reports of results and methods and present results to team members in Crop Science and Pharma.

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or similar with an excellent track record of productivity;
Previous hands-on experience with genome editing tools;
Experience with standard bioinformatic tools (Python/R/command-line based);
Familiarity with plant transformation and plant tissue culture methods;
Familiarity with modern protein engineering methods (e.g. deep mutational scanning, domain integrations, circular permutations, and others) and a good understanding of protein structure;
Track record of working independently as part of a multidisciplinary team, with excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, capacity for analytical thinking and creativity, as well as enthusiasm for hands-on bench work. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous hands-on experience with genome editing tools such as CRISPR nucleases or advanced CRISPR-based applications such as base editing or prime-editing;
Experience with plant transformation and plant tissue culture methods;
Experience with high throughput screens utilizing laboratory automation;
Experience with microbial based screening methods, such as yeast or E. coli.

Domestic relocation may be available for this role.
