Responsibilities

The Investment Accounting team is looking for a Sr. Associate Accountant who possesses both high integrity values and initiative. We are looking for someone who really wants to deepen their knowledge of investments and systems (ex. PAM Accounting system, MarkitEDM, Allvue, etc.). The role is on our investment accounting team which is responsible for the daily and monthly accounting for our consolidated (General Account) derivatives, fixed income and alternative investments.  Functions on the team include daily processing at an asset level, reconciliations, valuation, corporate actions, security builds, and impairments. Meeting deadlines, control focused, attention to detail  as well as balancing multiple priorities and tasks will be key in this role. We are also looking for an someone who embraces change, challenges the status quo, actively participates in generating new ideas and continues to advance automation.

Functions in the role include:

Regulatory Reporting - Schedule D (all parts) for 8 companies
PAM Close Rotation, key task in our monthly PAM close process
Data Steward, which requires an in-depth understanding of the ledger
Various reconciliations, including cash and holdings, system to ledger
Researching, analyzing and following-up on open or outstanding items
Performing other job-related duties or special projects as time allows

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent experience plus 2-4 years of relevant experience required
CPA or other applicable certifications preferred
You may be required to become an associated person of Principal Securities Inc
