Job Description

Basic Function

HollyFrontier in Dallas, TX is seeking a Systems Administrator III who will provide moderate to complex system, application, and database support as assigned and conducts technical assignments and projects for the Information Technology Department under general supervision.

Job Duties

Supports various departmental and site specific applications (e.g. tank gauging, data historians, lab systems, environmental applications, including application level and depending on assignment database level support
Supports integration points between data historian and other systems such as LIMS, tank gauging, DCS, and environmental.
Monitors applications daily for optimization (slowness), batches jobs, runs monthly reports, performs weekly backups and break/fixes, and creates interfaces as needed
Installs various application software on servers
Assists in maintaining and converting legacy applications to HollyFrontier applications and extracts data from legacy databases
Maintains operator lists, hierarchy data, routes, and workspaces for various applications
Writes clear, concise, and accurate documentation and provides end user training
Runs periodical reports (operational data, LIMS data) for various departments; maintains, adds and modifies existing reports and creates new reports on demand
Acts as system administrator for assigned system(s): sets up new users, resets passwords, changes profiles and creates reports as needed with report writing tool
Maintains various assigned applications and provides onsite support for assigned servers, including server patching and break/fix activities
Assists in developing and implementing an enterprise-wide strategy for refinery operation applications and innovation.
Plan and execute system enhancements to bring further capabilities to existing applications
Project Management functions may include, but are not limited to, prioritizing and assigning tasks for effective use of team resources; responding to more complex, escalated inquiries from team members; and checking the quality of others work. Activities of the team may include installing, configuring, administering, and maintaining a large system or several smaller systems.

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their superior, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.

Experience

A minimum of five years of job-related experience is required.

Education Level

A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.

Required Skills

Administration, implementation, and support experience required in various departments and company applications. Good organizational, time-management, the ability to effectively communicate with others, both verbal and written communication skills; and the ability perform intermediate level mathematical calculations; advanced reading and writing skills. Working knowledge of the assigned relational database principles.

Preferred Skills:

Process Controls exposure is preferred. Project Management training is preferred. Microsoft certifications (MCDST, MCSA, MCSE, MCP,) are preferred.

Supervisory/Managerial Responsibility

May lead other Systems personnel from time to time.

Work Conditions

Office based with travel up to 25% by land and air required. Petroleum refinery, warehouse/plant environment, out-of-doors environment including but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, rotating equipment, and exposure to the risk of electrical shock. Occasionally required to work long hours which may include nights, weekends, holidays for regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency work and support as well as on-call availability. Subject to all temperatures, weather and varying road conditions.
