Scope of Position:  

In your Software development team lead role, you will be responsible for architecting and developing leading edge solutions across cloud, large enterprise and individual sites.
You will participate on multinational matrixed project teams. Work with design teams inside and outside Corning to extend the state of the art.
You will work with customers to define project specifications and have the ability to research and improve applicable technologies.
Participate in Developer and Agile Guilds to build a developer community at Corning.
Participate in Agile and Toolchain teams to help grow best practices around software design and development Corporation wide.

Experience:  

Prior experience Architecting/Implementing Software Solutions for groundbreaking process design for R&D and Pilot Manufacturing use.
Full Stack development experience, VS.NET/Windows development fundamentals.
Ability to participate in large development programs, working with developers and scientists to provide platforms meeting performance, cost, timeline, and capability requirements.

Required Skills:

SW Team – Senior Developer on Agile development team.
SW Development leadership – Help set and socialize AppDev best practices around process, tools, methods for Corning.
Programming skills - Visual Studio .NET / .NET Core 2.2+, C# (including adaptability to new languages, use of autoformatters / linters / style / etc.).
Full Stack development – Front End/Back End, DB, API Development.
Design Patterns – Dependency Injection, Singleton, Builder, Factory, …
Docker – building, deploying, orchestration tools (Docker Swarm / Kubernetes / etc.).
Version control – Git.
Collaboration tools – Azure DevOps (TFS) required, preferred broad experience: GitHub / GitLab / BitBucket / etc., JIRA / Confluence / etc.
CI/CD – Azure Pipelines / Jenkins / GitLab / CircleCI / TravisCI / etc.
Databases – probably at least relational (MS SQL /Postgres / MySQL / etc.).

Including some healthy combination of:

API design (REST, RAML / OpenAPI / Swagger)
Frontend dev (JS/TypeScript, Angular/React, CSS/LESS/SCSS)
Backend dev (Node + Express / etc., Python / Django / Flask / Falcon / etc.)
Data engineering (variety of data formats, parsing, sanitizing, versioning, etc.)

Desired Skills:

Edge data ingest and compute.
Familiarity with IIoT/IoT, Cognitive computing, Machine Intelligence and Cloud computing (Private and Public) and Data Science
DevOps – some sys admin/config/mgmt. skills.

Strong Interpersonal, Presentation and Leadership Skills:  

Experience communicating outside of the organization (CESMII, SMLC, etc…) and participating in relevant government and industry efforts.
Comfort working in both Engineering and IT space, ability to help facilitate collaboration across organizational barriers.
Adept at working in environments with significant ambiguity and an ability to explore and drive to clear requirements
Able to interact effectively with customers and staff
Familiarity working within matrixed project management structures

Education:

We seek a BS or above in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field.

Travel Requirements and Hours/Schedule/Flex:

Our travel is project dependent providing you the ability to travel from 0-50% averaging <20%
We work standard business hours - M-F, 8-5. We also support flex time.
