Job Description

The Director, Specialty Patient Access Solutions is responsible for developing industry-leading patient access support services for GSK’s specialty product portfolio.  The role reports to the Head, Patient Access Solution in US Market Access.

The leader in this role serves as a subject matter expert for reimbursement, patient support models, and market access dynamics. The person in this role must work closely with the Brand Payer and Access Marketers (BPAMs), the Specialty Business Unit, and other matrix colleagues to develop strategies to support optimal patient access to therapy. The role directly supports the overall business objectives for GSK’s specialty brands, Nucala and Benlysta.

This position provides oversight to data generated through access solutions partners, and leads a team of direct reports to ensure flawless execution of reimbursement support services for the specialty portfolio. Specialty Patient Access Solution services include call center HUB services, Copayment Assistance programs, Prior Authorization support services, Technology-related initiatives to optimize appropriate patient access to therapy, and coordination with Patient Assistance Program Senior Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a subject-matter expert to develop and build patient access strategies and related services in support of patient access to therapy
Work seamlessly and collaboratively with Specialty Business Unit leadership, Brand Payer Marketing (BPAM) Leads, Field Reimbursement Managers (FRMs), and other matrix GSK stakeholders
Oversee call center HUB services and ensure that program SOPs, workflows, training and reporting meet patient access, brand and specialty portfolio objectives.

Monitor program performance against established program goals to create an optimal patient experience
Monitor vendor performance against contractual agreements
Monitor and evaluate new and evolving program support services and vendors to maintain industry-leading support in a rapidly changing environment

Serve as subject matter expert to the Brand Payer & Access Marketers (BPAMs) in regards to the constantly changing reimbursement and market access landscape.  Monitor changes to payer policies that may impact the specialty portfolio and communicate key changes and associated implications to Brand Payer & Access Marketing
Negotiate and execute contracts with key third party vendors to ensure innovative access support services that achieve enterprise cost effectiveness needs
Lead a team of direct reports to drive business performance and advance GSK’s IPTc priorities

Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

Bachelors Degree
Minimum 5 years specialty reimbursement/market access experience in the pharmaceutical industry

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

MBA or MPH
Demonstrated ability to effectively challenge individuals at various levels and with various roles in a matrix organization
Deep understanding of pricing, reimbursement, access and distribution dynamics for specialty products
Excellent communication (written & verbal), interpersonal influencing skills and prioritization skills
Extensive access support services strategy and execution experience, preferably with a range of specialty products
Experience developing access support services for in-line products and product launch
Experience working with Specialty Pharmacies in support of specialty product access
Experience integrating payer strategy with reimbursement support and access pull-through programs in support of meeting company business objectives
Market access & reimbursement expertise for physician-administered/Part B specialty injectables, and products reimbursed under the pharmacy benefit/Part D
Deep understanding of the laws and regulations governing provision of access support services
Demonstrated understanding of commercial and public payer customers (i.e. PBM, MCO, employer, Medicaid, Medicare) and the complex dynamics among key players that influence patient access to therapy
Strong business acumen and analytical skills.
High level of motivation and a strong ability to find creative solutions to challenging unstructured situations
Ability to apply Compliance Policies and Procedures (CPP) in unstructured and fluid situations
