The Payroll Department is a part of the People Team within McDonald’s Global Business Services organization. Global Business Services (GBS) provides full hire-to-retire services such as onboarding, payroll, and benefits processing for close to 65,000 employees located in the US and Canada. GBS is committed to delivering 100% Customer Satisfaction in a timely, high quality and accurate manner while ensuring adherence to internal controls.

McDonald's Canada Hire to Retire team currently has an opportunity for a blended Payroll/Benefits Representative responsible for a variety of payroll and benefits activities. The position also participates in account reconciliation, data analytics and reporting.

Responsibilities

Payroll/Benefits/LOA: Process crew and staff transactions including new hires, terminations, salary changes, special checks, and Record of Employment requests. Research and resolve exceptions for all pay cycles. Respond to labor inquires. Prepare and deliver data reports for Canada HR. Ensure accurate employee data for benefits eligibility. Coordinate benefits deductions and arrears. Analyze and execute employee status changes.
Collaboration/Communication: Support Operations and HR functions to ensure payroll data is properly transmitted by the restaurants. Communicate with IT, Legal, and Benefits teams as needed. Interact with McOpCo Human Resources, Operations teams and employees on Payroll, Benefits, and LOA inquiries by various methods including call center support.
Collaboration: Exhibit proficiency in learning and communicating effectively within a team. Collaborate with the team to ensure compliance with daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
Customer Service: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in support of our crew, management, staff and internal teams.
Complete Ad Hoc projects as needed.
Occasional Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required
3+ years of experience processing and/or calculating payroll and other compensation transactions (e.g. reimbursements) and analyzing financial data
3+ years of customer service experience in a professional office/business setting

Preferred Qualifications:

Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.
Previous call center experience favored
Bachelor’s degree or Payroll Certification a plus
French Speaking a plus
Understanding of basic accounting principles preferred
Experience working with Payroll System preferred
Strong problem solving, analytical and customer service skills
Capability to work both individually and with a team
Proven ability to adapt and leverage resources to achieve results in an ambiguous and fast paced environment
Proficiency in managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Advanced attention to details and accuracy
Aptitude towards technology and applications
Continuous Improvement mindset (knowledge of DMAIC)
