Enterprise Functions Technology Architecture develops consistent architecture strategy and delivers safe, secure and consistent architecture solutions for all of the teams supported business domains. EFT Architecture reduces technology risk by aligning EFT architecture solutions to architecture roadmap, enterprise principles, policies and standards.
The Principal Engineer will be responsible for developing relevant engineering standards, guidelines/playbooks to enable EFT application modernization, resiliency, developing cloud native applications. Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) has embarked on an ambitious Modernization & Transformation program and this person will partner with enterprise cloud platform, CI/CD enterprise pipelines, various other enterprise platform teams, architects, EFT engineering managers and the EFT developer community to enable modernization.
The ideal candidate will

Lead the IT Transformation of an application portfolio to redesign, build an run in distributed and scalable hybrid cloud environments
Create a cloud vision and best practices, develop prototypes, frameworks, patterns, and standards.
Develop engineering best practices, guidelines, standards and accelerators.
Develop and manage EFT engineering community of practice
Develop strategies to improve developer productivity and reduce technology debt.
Evaluate and incubate modern technologies and engineering practices.
Create elegant solution designs for delivering highly resilient and scalable microservices using Kubernetes.
Provide expert counsel to senior technology leadership and advises and mentors engineering teams
Collaborate with architecture leadership in driving the transformation to modern architectures.
Represent Wells Fargo to external industry groups, influencing industry standards

Required Qualifications

10+ years of engineering experience; or 10+ years of experience in a technical management role
10+ years of technology delivery and relationship management experience with small and large business units in a large corporate environment
10+ years of experience leading and executing the design and development of innovative solutions and driving recommendations for changes to data systems, infrastructure, or processes
3+ years of microservices development experience
5+ years of experience with Microsoft Private Cloud or Hybrid Cloud environment
3+ years of experience with secure DevOps and deployment automation to cloud environments
3+ years of experience securing container solutions
1+ year of experience in one or a combination of the following: Cloud Foundry or Kubernetes
3 + years of experience with Agile tools

Desired Qualifications

A Masters degree or higher in computer science or finance
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Experience supporting senior level leaders/executives

Other Desired Qualifications

10+ years of software architecture design, building and scaling high performance applications
An industry-standard technology certification on AWS/GCP/Azure
Proficiency with cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, serverless / FaaS, NoSQL databases), micro-service design, CI/CD, DevOps
Extensive experience deploying scalable software in the Public Cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure)
Deep experience with Kafka and Kubernetes (or Amazon MSK and EKS)
Background and in-depth knowledge of network, cloud and application monitoring/management tools
Ability to assess issues, make quick decisions, implement solutions, and influence change
Strong customer/stakeholder relationship management skills
Ability to convey and understand organizational goals.
Solid understanding of SDLC, DevOps, and CI/CD, as well as expert knowledge of both agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them as needed.
Experience working on large scale technical projects.
Strong technical background to provide highly-credible leadership to technical teams, and to objectively evaluate complex project issues and risks.
Very well versed in using Agile methodologies to design solutions
Ability to lead and guide technical and business teams to build product and services
Ability to work under pressure and prioritize while supporting multiple projects
