Job Description Summary:
Maxim’s Gigabit Multimedia Serial Link (GMSL) product line in the Automotive Business Unit has a job opening for an experienced electrical engineer in the area of product definition. GMSL products are used in automotive display and camera systems to transport high-speed digital video, audio and control information over various forms of transmission cables. We are looking for an engineer with experience in automotive ADAS and infotainment systems design that includes knowledge of camera, display systems and video data processing.
Product definition is a strategic role with high visibility. The primary responsibility is to collect requirements and develop specifications for new serial link products in collaboration with our cross functional engineering team, sales team, customers and partners. You provide input to the roadmap for the product line and work with automotive customers to help them architect display and camera solutions. Finally, you provide guidance on the design-in of new products.
You must demonstrate the ability to understand customer needs, associated system designs and constraints, and be able to translate the wants and needs from various customers into detailed product requirements. Requirements may include simple low speed communications interfaces, high speed standards based interfaces and analog high-speed physical layer electrical requirements. Travel is expected.

1. BSEE/MSEE and 8+ years of relevant work experience
2. Experience in automotive ADAS and Infotainment systems design, including knowledge of camera, display systems, and video data processing.
3. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to understand customer needs, associated system designs, and constraints, and translate the wants and needs from various customers into a comprehensive set of system requirements. Requirements can range from simple low-speed communications interfaces, high-speed standards-based interfaces, and analog HS physical layer requirements.
5. Ability to work within a cross-functional team and work with customers
6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Skills in high-speed circuit design and tools (Keysight ADS, Genesys, and Momentum) are a plus.
2. Understanding and experience with automotive standards, environmental, EMI/EMC compliance, and functional safety are also a plus.
3. Detailed knowledge of serial link semiconductor devices (“SerDes”) and standard serial video interfaces (such as MIPI CSI-2/DSI, HDMI, and DisplayPort) is a plus
