Job Description Summary:
Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates electronic parts, components or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment, or other hardware systems and/or electrical engineering applications. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. May also review vendor capability to support product development.
Job Description:
Design evaluation kits for new products including PCB design, firmware development, and PC-based GUI development. Create custom board-level designs for our customers. Define and help develop new products and architectures. Develop new application code, libraries, and APIs. Development of application literature. Create data sheets, lab reports, and application notes that help the customer effectively use Maxims products.
Receive, negotiate and understand customer specifications for their power supply requirements. Design, simulate and develop DC-DC converter designs that either step down (Buck converters), Step-up (Boost converters) or Step-up/ down (Buck/Boost) according to the customer specifications. Develop circuit solutions, test them and evaluate them versus the customer requirements and make the needed optimizations to suit the customer needs. Assist the customers in successfully deploying these solutions in their end equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
A Masters degree in Electronic Engineering, Electronics and Technology Management, Electrical Engineering, or closely related field of study, and 5 years of work experience.
In lieu of the requirements listed above, the employer will accept: bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or a closely related discipline, plus 8 years of work experience as an applications engineer or closely related occupation.
SPECIFIC SKILLS:
IC development including an understanding of digital state machines, system design, circuit design, and schematic/PCB layout.
Embedded / GUI programming in Embedded Code within Real-Time systems and Embedded Firmware experience using industry- standard Safety Microcontrollers.
Power supply debugging and solutions development
Good understanding of dc-dc power conversion topologies and control methods
Hardware Design experience in power electronics
Common power circuit design scenarios, assumptions and trade-offs that result in a satisfactory power supply design
Testing automation/new product evaluation using High-Speed DACS for automated communication interface validation.
