Position Brand Description: 

The Logistics Engineer is responsible for engineering support of Branchburg Logistics operations, responsibilities include ensuring the operation, maintenance, and monthly trend reviews of equipment and systems associated with GMP warehouse facilities including cold rooms, freezers, controlled temperature storage areas and hazardous storage areas.  The position will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance of associated systems and equipment such as overhead doors, loading docks and related equipment and PITs. This position will support capital planning for the expansion, renovation and recapitalization of new and existing warehouse systems and equipment.  The position will manage projects related to these renovation and replacements. This position will coordinate with warehouse personnel in enhancing efficiency, reducing safety hazards and continuous improvement to operations. This position will also manage change controls, support or lead deviation investigations and implementation of CAPAs.   The incumbent will establish many key working relationships to coordinate critical activities with Logistics, Health Safety and Environmental (HSE), Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Validation, and Manufacturing. 

Key Objectives/Deliverables: 

Manage for Results /Strategic Planning: 

Engineering technical expert for logistics operations, systems and equipment.  This is includes monitoring and overseeing performance of all GMP controlled storage systems and areas throughout the Branchburg campus. Develop, implement, and maintain equipment maintenance strategies to optimize its safe operation, compliance (HSE & GMP), cost, and efficiency/effectiveness of assets.  Daily review, monitoring and trending of the performance of controlled storage areas and chambers (freezers, refrigerators, cold rooms, etc.). Perform Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) and remediation plans as a result of, but not limited to, events and abnormal operational conditions. Provide engineering support for change controls, Quality or Safety event investigations, etc. Perform Continuous Improvement of operations and in support of compliance with applicable regulations.  Assess/identify opportunities to improve the equipment reliability, recommend solutions, and manage implementation.  These opportunities will be a combination of, but not limited to, equipment installation, equipment set-up instructions, operation/utilization of the equipment, maintenance procedures, maintenance servicing issues, etc. Provide field support to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve Logistics equipment issues.  Support may be required outside of normal working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Collaborate with Logistics, Manufacturing, engineering and HSE personnel for design, selection, construction/installation to improve reliability and maintainability of new or modified equipment. Effectively communicate with key customers and support groups regarding equipment reliability, maintenance activities, and improvement efforts. SAFETY:  Ensures overall job environmental, health and safety aspects and understands the risks and liabilities associated with various Logistics activities.  Takes actions, including initiating Facilities and Engineering projects to address or prevent unsafe conditions for self and site personnel.

Basic Requirements: 

- Bachelor of Science Mechanical, Civil or Industrial Engineering, related engineering discipline.

- Minimum 2 years’ experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology functions.

Additional Preferences: 

- Working knowledge of SAP a plus.

- Technical knowledge of industrial and clean utility and HVAC systems utilized in the biopharm industry.

- Good written and verbal communication skills.

- Experience utilizing Microsoft Project or other project scheduling software.

- Ability to work as a team leader to execute multi-disciplined projects.

Other Information:  

Minimal travel required.  Lifting not required.  Required to be on call.  Shift work may apply.
