Job Description

Dow has an exciting job opportunity as a Process Technician role at one of our world-scale production units, supporting the Hydrocarbons and Energy business in Oyster Creek, Texas.

The primary purpose of this role is the safe and reliable operation of this major production facility, which includes LHC-8, LHC-9, PDH-1 and Power 8. The successful candidate will provide the knowledge and skills required to support daily safe and reliable operations, working a rotating shift schedule.

Core Responsibilities:

• Follows Operating Discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
• Uses process knowledge and skills to create, modify and improve operating discipline procedures and practices to improve plant performance.
• Operates and field checks process equipment. Monitors process conditions, equipment, and control systems.
• Performs tasks assigned to operations per Master Task List (e.g. field checks, equipment preparation, samples, etc.).
• Ensures operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals.
• Uses process knowledge and skills to coach and train others on plant operations.
• Actively participates on plant teams, and in other plant improvement projects.
• Performs process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventive maintenance utilizing the appropriate work processes and disciplines.
• With the appropriate knowledge, skills and qualifications, candidates will be expected to perform any task that is needed to support the operation or maintenance of a chemical plant.

The Dow Chemical Company does not offer relocation assistance for this position. This includes reimbursement for travel expenses incurred to and from test sessions/interviews. Required Qualifications:

• Must be able to work a rotating shift. Which is a 12 hour shift days and nights, a DuPont schedule.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Must have a current, valid US driver’s license
• Must have good computer and technical skills in order to learn how to operate both manual and highly-automated equipment.
• Must be able to learn and have the ability to perform preventative maintenance and be able to make preliminary diagnoses, i.e. issues with pumps, motors, valves, etc.
• A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Preferred Qualifications:

• Chemical manufacturing experience as a Production Technician, Analytical, or Lab Technician.
• Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting, maintenance, diagnosing and repairing experience.
• Prior experience working in an outside environment.
• Proficiency in reading trends and graphs of real-time data.
• Understanding of computer code.

• Must have the ability to learn complex chemical manufacturing processes, and the ability to analyze, understand, and resolve technical problems
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must have a desire to learn and grow technical skills to keep current with new automation and process Technology
• Good interpersonal skills are required.
• Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
• Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Physical Requirements:

Must be willing and able to do the following with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes
• Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
• Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
• Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
• Frequent/occasional lifting of material weighing approximately 50 lbs.
• Our safety equipment has weight restrictions. To qualify, you must be able to use standard safety equipment which is rated for someone who weighs 300 pounds or less.

Education:

Required:

• An Associate Degree or higher in a relevant field

• In lieu of an associate degree or higher, Dow Chemical will consider those with four (4) + years of relevant military experience and a High School Diploma or GED.

Preferred:

• A degree in Process Technology, Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation and/or Electrical, or Computer Technology.
