Job Description

As part of this team you would contribute to CDM Smith's success by;

-Becoming an integral part of our Transportation team supporting Project Managers and Structures staff in the Southeast region.

-Designing simple and complex roadway bridges, including grade separations, stream crossings, and bridge rehabilitations.

-Designing transportation related structures including culverts and retaining walls.

-Assisting with structural plans development.

-Assisting with bridge inspections and development of inspection reports.

-Performing bridge load ratings.

-Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm. Minimum Qualifications -Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering or related discipline.

-Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in states where an EIT is not obtainable (within 18 months of hire or promotion or transfer).

-5 years of related experience.

-Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.

Preferred Qualifications

-Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.

-EIT. -Professional Engineers License or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire.

-Experienced user of Microstation.

-Experienced user of CSiBridge, AASHTOWare’s Bridge Rating (BrR) and Mathcad.

-Experienced user of OpenBridge.

-Familiarity with SCDOT Load Rating Guidance Document and Bridge Inspection Guidance Document.

-Bridge seismic design experience and familiarity with SCDOT Seismic Design Specifications for Highway Bridges.

-Georgia DOT Bridge Design experience.

-NHI Bridge Inspection Certification.

-Experienced with CADD software.

-Experienced with LEAP Bridge Design Software.

-Experienced with AASHTO LRFD bridge design methods.

-South Carolina DOT Bridge Design experience.

-Familiarity with SCDOT inspection policies and practices.

-Ability to safely conduct the physical aspects of the inspection field work.
