Position Summary
The Accountant is directly responsible for all aspects of accounting for a number of the company’s business subsidiaries within the Water Solutions Segment, as well as other functions defined by management. This role supports the Accounting Supervisor and team in carrying out the responsibilities of the Accounting Department.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Complete all aspects of accounting related to various business entities, including:
Complete various monthly close journal entries.
Ensure proper revenue recognition.
Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure they are accurately recorded appropriately on a monthly basis.
Prepare monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows) and other supporting schedules.
Complete monthly e the income statement analysis and supporting monthly financial MD&A narratives to share with Operations team and Executive Management.
Prepare various balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting analysis in relation to the business entities.
Review the Accounts Receivable aging and assistance with review of reserve balances and maintain integrity of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable subledger accounts.
Act as the primary contact when interacting with various Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable personnel across the organization. This includes but is not limited to: operational employees in the in the field, business unit managers, Accounting colleagues (local and off site), other department members, tax managers, and Senior Management with respect to areas of individual responsibility.
Effective communication across various departments is required.
Assist with compiling supporting documentation and preparation of various schedules for annual audit and quarterly audit reviews.
Research and resolve various complex accounting issues.
Maintain knowledge of up to date Accounting Standards.
Complete ad-hoc analysis as required.
Perform other duties as requested.
Position Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong knowledge of accounting software systems is required. Oracle Cloud experience is preferred.
Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and accrual-based accounting theory methods is required.
Fundamental comprehension of monthly financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows).
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications is required; advanced knowledge of Excel is strongly preferred.
Ability and desire to develop advanced skills and processes.

Ability to function independently with minimal direction, as well as in a team environment.

Experience/Education:
Bachelors degree in Accounting is required.
1+ years of accounting experience, including work directly related to monthly accounting closes and financial statement preparation.
Experience Oil and Gas knowledge or experience, especially the midstream segment in the midstream oil and gas industry is preferred.
Oracle Cloud experience is a plus.
CPA or CPA eligibility is advantageous
