Accounting - 50%
Prepare, validate, and post all inventory journal entries.
Validate, analyze, and review US Retail inventory perpetual inventory, processes and transactions, including but not limited to: receipts, transfers, inventory adjustments, shrink and stock ledger COGS.
Prepare financial month-end on-hand inventory reconciliations consisting for 900+ retail stores.
Prepare month-end shrink reserve analysis by store.
Prepare lower of cost or net realizable value (NRV) quarterly calculations and analysis. Partner with Retail Planning team to understand current business and validate calculations.
Review vendor payments for shipments made direct to retail stores, and prepare month end journal entries for outstanding amounts.
Ensure all inventory deductions are booked according to Company policy, GAAP, and recognized in the correct period.
Partner with Senior Analyst to properly account for inventory adjustments.
Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations for all inventory accounts.
Prepare Retail Inventory Rollforwards by standard business unit and brand on a monthly basis and supply to Global Inventory Control for inputs and outputs into their financial model.
Ensure closing calendar timelines are met for all tasks, effectively communicating any issues cross functionally.
Partner closely with IT business partners to help coordinate and implement finance system initiatives to meet business needs. Ensure all inventory systems process inventory transactions properly and are in balance.
Ensure intercompany transactions are appropriately recorded on a monthly basis, inclusive of variance analysis between Wholesale and Retail Operations. Prepare the reconciliation of receipts from intercompany transactions and relief of intercompany profit.
Budgeting, Forecasting, & Analysis - 25%
Continually monitor monthly results vs. budget/forecast and review variance.
Provide explanations for significant variances to budget/forecast on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
Responsible for quarterly retail inventory reserve reporting package.
Provide and implement recommendations for improvement based on fact based analytics.
Quarterly reporting of key performance indicators.
Prepare ad hoc analysis for management.
Cross Functional Collaboration & Partnership - 15%
Significant partnership with IT, Planning & Allocations, Operations, Omni-Channel, FP&A, Asset Protection, and Sales Audit.
Liaison with our inventory software provider.
Support teams with inventory accounting treatment/impact.
Responsible for providing thorough and timely responses to emails received in the regional inventory inboxes.
Internal Controls - 5%
Ownership of internal controls related to retail inventory.
Ensure units and costs within inventory system are in agreement with source systems, i.e. Omnia, Sterling, and Sales Audit.
Provide professional assistance as assigned to internal and external audit groups during financial and SOX audits.
Partner with the business to streamline processes and increase financial controls to ensure financial integrity.
Experience and Skills
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Highly analytical with proven ability to proactively leverage data to improve the business operations.
Proven ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Intermediate Excel skills.
Experience working in reporting systems and ability to learn new systems as needed.
Ability to multi-task with a high attention to detail.

2-5 years of accounting experience
Retail/wholesale inventory experience preferred.
Bachelors degree from accredited 4 year institution required in Accounting or Finance.
CPA/MBA preferred.
