POSITION SUMMARY & KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
We’re seeking a seasoned industry professional who can set global software and innovation strategy for one of NCR’s largest customers, and drive technology direction that results in increased sales. The role will have close collaboration with, solution managers, services, partners and other cross functional teams. As a trusted technical advisor to the customer’s senior leaders, this individual will ensure the two company’s strategies are in sync, and that an aggressive schedule of innovation and deployment succeeds.
This individual need be grounded in current and trending consumer behaviors. They must be a technologic thought leader to identify trends that will change the retail landscape before the mass market adopts them. They must have a deep technical understanding of the disparate system architectures deployed globally, while also conducting business value discussion with customer leadership.
Ultimately, this person will be responsible for setting the architectural, innovation, and global integration strategy for the customer 12-36 months in the future, and lead/educate NCR teams on how to define, build, and deliver the strategy.
If you have demonstrated experience in technical leadership with Walmart and/or other large strategic customers, creating innovative solutions, the ability to have meaningful executive conversations, and bridging the digital and built-space retail world, we want to talk to you.
Key Areas of Responsibility include:
Collaborate, facilitate, and evaluate potential (multiple) solution sets with client and internal teams to select the optimal solution for various markets (e.g. urban, rural, etc.)
Maintain continual awareness of trends that affect the retail industry and how to leverage them on our client’s behalf
Manage funding and partnerships necessary to enable NCR teams to deliver recommended solutions
Incorporate strict AGILE processes to ensure progress is being made, failing fast is possible, and the team remains focused on productive activities that translate into customer pilots as quickly and reliably as possible
Work cross functionally across NCR and customer’s thought leadership to facilitate fast and effective collaboration leading to quicker prototyping. This includes working with NCR leadership in PS, engineering, architecture, support, and solutions management where appropriate. It also means expanding influence within higher levels of non-IT groups within customer.
Strong executive communication skills and acumen. Requires being able to motivate and deliver complex ideas simply and with confidence. Innovation requires all to be on the same page and fostering a continuing landscape of engagement to converge on a well-executed solution.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
BS in Computer Science or engineering; or equivalent work experience
10+ years of operations and executive experience with a large multi-country retailer
10+ years in retail systems, mobile shopping, and application design
Deep understanding of retail solutions and customer retail processes
Prior success leading cross-functional or collaborative environments
Highly motivated and tenacious in the pursuit of collective goals
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proven software architecture experience
Successful track record in designing next-generation solutions and environments for the retail industry
Excellent presentation skills including ability to be the visionary who can paint the picture of next generation solutions
Must be a successful self-contributor with strategic opportunities
