Job Description

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review and approve both routine and non-routine gas marketing journal entries.

Ensure journals are accurate and supported.

Review and approve gas marketing balance sheet reconciliations.

Work with preparers to ensure reconciliations are performed timely, in a consistent manner, and with sufficient and accurate information.
Work with preparers to ensure reconciling items are being cleared from reconciliations in a timely manner.

Direct supervision of a staff of four accountants
Oversee resolution of issues with accruals such as duplicate accruals, rate/volume changes after payment, incorrect rates, etc
Coordinate staff to ensure timely close of ETRM and financial systems
Oversee preparation of monthly and quarterly flux analysis
Participate as key team member to prepare and present quarterly and annual MD&A
Interact with internal and external auditors and provide support as needed

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance related field
5-10 years progressive experience in commodity accounting
3-5 years supervisory experience
Initiative and leadership in unstructured work environments, handling multiple job responsibilities, setting priorities, maintaining a high level of accomplishment, and implementing improvements to processes.
Experience using an ETRM for daily accounting functions.
Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to listen carefully and use clear and concise oral and written skills to convey facts and present positions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Can grasp complex business problems and formulate solutions.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
Thrives in a fast paced, dynamic, high-performance culture with the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
Regular and reliable attendance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

CPA
Experience in liquids accounting
Experience in Allegro, RightAngle and/or Oracle Financials Cloud
