Job overview

The Manufacturing Engineer plans, organizes, and executes enhancements and improvements related to the building and testing of equipment as well as the processing of consumable parts and material.  The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for continuous improvement changes, the creation and upkeep of operations documentation and the coordination of engineering changes onto the production floor.  As part of daily operations, the Manufacturing Engineer will work as the liaison between operations management, engineering, quality, safety & continuous improvement to coordinate upgrades, obsolescence, and process improvements.  Primary responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

Organize, execute, and document engineering changes to optimize production flow of equipment and consumable products
Organize, create, and revise documentation necessary for new and existing products, including test procedures, job instructions, job routers, job safety analyses, standard operating procedures, etc.
Execute continuous improvement initiatives identified by the business to improve productivity and customer satisfaction
Work with Quality and Continuous Improvement management to reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and achieve acceptable first pass yield
Design and build Assembly and Inspection tooling to facilitate optimal safety, efficiency, and yield
Work with vendors to improve product build times, product cost, product quality and replacement of obsolete components
Supports and troubleshoots manufacturing equipment with Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure production goals are met
Liaise with Operations, Quality, Safety, Engineering and Service to ensure manufacturing issues are resolved quickly and improvement ideas will enhance customer satisfaction

Qualifications

Required qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering field
Proven ability to combine theoretical training with practical experience in a "hands-on" environment
3D CAD experience
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics / diagrams and mechanical drawings
Experience using an ERP system for controlling Item, BoM & Router data
Effective project management skills with the ability to complete multiple projects independently

Preferred qualifications

Experience with electro-mechanical machinery in a manufacturing environment
Experience with Solidworks and AutoCAD
Six Sigma trained, green belt or black belt
Experience with PLCs and ability to understand logic
Experience designing fixtures and tooling for process improvement
Experience with robotics and automation
Familiarity with ANSI Y14.5 GD&T
