Job Summary

The Technologist is tasked with providing detailed testing and fabrication results to support the advancement of Polyolefin and Specialty Product Development
The open position is a day shift position located at the Baytown Technology nd Engineering Complex

Primary Job Functions

Performs Properties testing on Polyolefin products
Interfaces with internal customers on a daily basis
Operates and maintains analytical and physical properties testing equipment
Ensures data reliability through adherence to quality objectives and develops all method support documentation
Prepares and tests samples by following detailed ASTM methods to provide high quality data
Calculates, analyzes and interprets data
Loads data to the work order management system for review by Ph. D. Scientists and Engineers
Effficiently manages their work request backlog and turnaround time
Perfoms methods development work as needed for product development
Solves analytical problems and leads efforts to indroduce new technologies to support the business
Stewards third party instrument calibrations and performs equipment verifications
Performs internal calibrations and monitoring SQC charts for quality compliance
Manages sample inventory, handling, shipping, storage and disposal
Conduct advanced scientific experiments
Operates large industrial size fabrication equipment
May perform fume hood or drybox experiments

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemistry, Science, Engineering discipline or relevant equivalent work experience
Capable of safe, reliable, and independent laboratory work given review of literature, framing of problem and regular direction
Ability to learn new techniques as needed
Ability to read and follow detailed instructions
Strong problem solving skills
Concern for accuracy and precision
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
Strong working knoweldge of Excel
Excellent communication (written/oral) and interpersonal skills
