We are currently looking for a dynamic individual as a Chemical Technician for our Coating and Construction Technical service group at our Advanced Technology Center located in The Woodlands, Texas.
The candidate must be able to setup equipment and perform various application testing methods used in the industry segment, e.g. coatings and construction. Physical and mechanical tests using Instron equipment, thermal analysis using TA instruments (DSC, TGA, TMA, DMA) is plus. The candidate must be able to perform chemical composition testing using HPLC, GC, GPC, IR and chemical wet laboratory tests to develop qualitative and quantitative analyses of Epoxy and curatives for thermoset resin systems.
What will be expected from you?
Project planning, sample requesting, sample or formulation preparation, sample testing using the equipment as stated in the job general purpose above.
Data collection, record, evaluate and report data in a technical writing format.
Literature searching
Writing report and presentations.
Participate with team in safety and housekeeping activities
Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor
Work collaboratively with team members in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals
Participates in and completes company-required training programs
Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company
Maintain laboratory hygiene by keeping work areas neat, orderly, and clean. Maintain laboratory equipment by ordering parts, doing routine maintenance, and performing quality check. Order chemicals for experiments. Safely dispose of chemicals and waste according to site requirements
Organize assignments in a manner that maximizes work efficiency without sacrificing quality
What are we looking for in the ideal candidate?
Associate degree in Chemistry or Chemical Technology and 3+ years of related experience
Good knowledge and understanding of chemistries
Hand on experience on Coating analysis, analytical, chemical, and physical setting up equipment and ASTM, ISO test methods
Excellent skills in thorough, concise, and timely oral and written communication
Attention to detail and thoroughness
Strong work ethic
Strong interpersonal skills
Willing to learn and expand existing skills
Self-motivated and ability to conduct work assignments under minimum supervision
Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs
