Position Overview
Navistar is building a new, Industry 4.0 manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas to develop leading-edge commercial vehicle solutions to meet the needs of today’s – and tomorrow’s – customers. This new facility?will have the?flexibility to build?Class 6-8 trucks along with Electric Vehicles that allow Navistar to add capacity to support anticipated industry growth. Using the Internet of Things (IoT) and connected manufacturing principles, Navistar's newest manufacturing facility will continue growing our market share gains, optimizing our supplier network and improving quality. We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the plant's engineering staff.
The Mechanical Engineer position will support Manufacturing Operations Group. They will support the design and development of the next generation of navistar vehicles.
Responsibilities for positions in Product Validation and Systems engineering may include, but are not limited to:
Bidding projects and equipment
Project Management
Machining Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
Support issue resolutions using rigorous problem-solving practices
Other duties as needed
Oversee new equipment purchases and fill out Requisitions.
Recommend upgrades and test new equipment and machines for process improvements.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
At least 5 years of experience in product manufacturing
OR
Master’s degree
At least 3 years of experience in product manufacturing
OR
At least 7 years of experience in product manufacturing
Additional Requirements
Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Desired Skills
Prior Experience in the field of “Automotive Painting”
Strong Project Management experience with paint projects
Technical knowledge in process engineering disciplines
Validation and launching of new paint robotic (Fanuc) and applicator equipment (Bell) is preferred.
Knowledge and ability to implement Lean Manufacturing principles
Working knowledge of Fanuc Painting Robots, Bell Paint Applicators and Fluid Delivery Systems (Piggable and Miller Mix)
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and significantly complex projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results
Ability to travel to multiple plant locations
