Job Description Summary

The Field Application Specialist - scM will support the BD Rhapsody Single Cell Multiomics (scM) platform in the US region. Primary responsibilities include on-site customer trainings to include seminars, workshops, instrumentation and reagent workflow training. Additional responsibilities include assisting with design and execution of experimental strategies and interpretation of results.

This position serves as a technical specialist in a collaborative effort with our sales team to drive market development and is a primary conduit for customer experience and product development for the research and development team. A successful Field Application Specialist will be a self-starter with the ability to work both independently and within larger teams to provide outstanding product support and troubleshooting for customers using the BD Rhapsody single cell system.

The position involves significant, direct interaction with existing and potential customers and carries an expectation of 50-60% travel, predominantly but not limited to the eastern United States. This role requires a solid understanding and proven experience in molecular techniques with a special emphasis on Single Cell Multiomics, Cell Biology, and Next Generation Sequencing. Experience with single cell workflows and bioinformatics data analysis would be an advantage. The role includes conducting product demonstrations, customer trainings and providing support to help our customers achieve efficient results. You will have the ability to independently craft and execute laboratory experiments and analyze and interpret results. You will guide customers in experimental design and work closely with the commercial team in pre-sales support activities.

Job Responsibilities:

·Design and execution of experimental strategies and interpretation of results.

·Hands on demonstration of protocols and workflows. Troubleshooting customer results.

·Instrumentation and reagent workflow demonstrations both in-house and at customer sites.

·Customer training to include seminars, workshops, instrumentation and reagent training.

·Designing, planning, organizing, and performing operator trainings for new and existing customers.

·Mentoring and training other members of the applications team

·Provision of second-level technical support to in-house and field support personnel.

·Performing instrument validation. Reviewing operational quality of equipment, and instruction of customers in operation and maintenance of systems.

·       Scientific support in Molecular & Cell Biology and Genomics regarding operational questions from customers as well as internal peers with focus on single-cell analysis/customized library prep/assay development/project set up.

·Identification of complaints, reporting according to the most recent guidelines, supporting the complaint handling process

·Keeping knowledge up to date with respect to new products and procedures to give optimal support for training and demonstrations.

·Providing industry-leading support for current and potential customers.

·Provision of support at trade-shows, national and locally organized, to demonstrate the platforms and technologies and to support the local teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

·Bachelors degree in Life Sciences field; Masters and/or PhD highly preferred.

·Must have experience in a lab with next generation sequencing, adequate to have a strong foundation and knowledge base of next generation sequencing.

·Strong public speaking skills,

·Must have exceptional presentation skills and effective interpersonal skills.

·Experience in customer interaction and support.

·Experience with working in a national environment, preferred.

·Must possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and meet BD's auto safety standards.

·Ability to maintain a travel schedule of up to 60% travel as required.
