Job Summary
The Staff Flow Assurance Engineer will be working within the Gulf of Mexico operations team and reporting to the Production Manager, you’ll be supporting the operations team with flow assurance modelling, interpretation, and mitigation procedures for Murphy’s deep-water offshore assets. This will include the development and revision of operational documentation, completion and close-out of engineering studies, completion of analysis and calculations to support resolution of engineering problems and providing insight and support into all flow assurance issues on brownfield and greenfield developments.
Responsibilities
Deliver multiphase flow and flow assurance analyses within a project or operational support context and understanding the relationship between such work and key flow assurance decisions
Develop and Support application of tools and design methods for multiphase flow, in the context of Flow Assurance, through delivering and directly managing modelling of relevant flow scenarios
Engage key stakeholders as appropriate to convey understanding of multiphase flow and its relevance to their context
Provide Flow Assurance operating philosophies to be executed by others i. e. chemical or operational requirements for both steady state and transient conditions (start-up and shutdown)
Develop processes/guidelines/calculations that standardize, streamline, and capture best practices in flow assurance engineering
Plan and coordinate flow assurance activities for studies, tenders, and projects by 3rd party firms. Coordinate, check and submit flow assurance clarification and exceptions during project phases
Manage chemical application of inhibitors and dispersants as it relates to steady-state and long terms issues around flow assurance
Participate in system level design reviews (start-up, shutdown, HAZOP/HAZID, PSSRs, etc), recommending solutions to challenges where applicable
Interface to determine new field infrastructure requirements
Communicate status of operational activities
Optimization of production and flowline systems
Qualifications/ Requirements
Bachelors’ degree in Engineering
Minimum 10 years’ experience working as flow assurance or process engineer, ideally with significant experience working on deep-water developments around subsea tiebacks
Strong written and verbal communication in English to proficiently communicate ideas and concepts
Ability to present technical flow assurance data and facts in a clear and concise manner to senior management
Experience in preparing and delivering presentations internally and externally (to projects group, operations team, co-venture partners, etc.)
Strong safety mentality
Strong communication skills with experience working in a multi-discipline environment
Possesses a collaborative nature and actively participates in teams; actively seeks continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices and procedures
Experienced user of multiphase flow simulators and fluid characterization software
Hands-on steady state and transient thermal-hydraulic modelling using transient (LedaFlow preferred), and steady state (GAP preferred) or similar software.
Hands-on fluid characterization using MULTIFLASH, with the expectation to apply it to typical fluid reports from 3rd party labs.
