Job Description

Position Summary
The Building Performance Global Technology Leader (GTL) is a key member of the Engineering Design solution area within the Built Environment.  The Building Performance GTL reports to the Global Solutions Director (GSD) for Engineering Design and the Federal West Sustainability team.  As a global leader, the GTL is responsible for contributions to Strategy and Growth, Driving Innovation, Connectivity, Attracting and Retaining Talent and Delivery Excellence within this solution area.

The Building Performance GTL role is focused on developing and implementing innovative solutions for sustainable buildings as well as the combination of buildings as they form a plant, campus, district or city.  Innovative solutions will be analyzed for effectiveness through advanced modeling techniques for a building or the collection of buildings to determine which ideas are included within the design.  These techniques will include:

Thermal Comfort Modeling
Performance-based, whole building Energy modeling
Daylight Modeling/Glare Modeling
Embodied Carbon/Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Modeling
Water balance modeling
Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA)

Successful implementation of these innovative solutions within the design and the resulting construction is critically important as well as the monitoring of the overall performance after construction. Integration of these techniques will revolutionize sustainable design resulting in net positive buildings, districts and cities decarbonizing our society.

Connecting and developing our capabilities of Building Performance across all regions within P&PS is a critical element of the GTL. This would include utilization and development of tools, methods and procedures for effective and repeatable outcomes. The Building Performance GTL collaborates and partners with other GTL’s and GSD’s including those within Engineering Design, Building Design, Connected, Secure & Smart Places, Cross-Market, and Digital Delivery.  Successful collaboration with both the Sustainable Building Design GTL as well as the Foreseeable GTL will be important to drive these innovative solutions within designs.   The selected candidate can be located in any Jacobs office or telework location.

The Building Performance GTL is responsible for:

Driving early engineering and architectural innovation in advanced building design
Advanced iterative Modeling and analysis including software and tools
Collaboration across critical solution areas
Efficient replication of innovative solution across Global design teams
Fostering and developing skills in staff
Identification of and connecting with staff globally within this practice area
