Job Description

The primary job focus is to support, analyze, evaluate and report on business risk.  We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual who can adapt as business needs evolve. The role will involve interacting with various internal units, as well as working independently and employing decision making skills. Opportunities for advancement within the role as well as visibility across the organization and exposure to external stakeholders exist for the successful candidate. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Execute on business processes including resetting periodic crediting rates, valuation reconciliation and data enrichment for fixed income securities
Improve workflow process by providing technical support aimed at automating and enhancing internal systems and MS Excel Economic models
Develop and maintain tools for monitoring and analysis of fixed income manager investment processes and performance
Produce and ensure accuracy of asset and liability data such as market/book ratios, duration and yield as well as plan data metrics such as cash flows and demographics
Develop new products and features through risk and profitability analysis on existing and future business, including working with the actuarial department to gain an understanding of the impact of reserving regulations
Work effectively with underwriters and establish/enhance processes to ensure information is vetted objectively and independently

 Job Requirements

Effective verbal and written communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in business or science discipline such as; Economics, Actuarial Science and Mathematics. Candidates with a second degree in Computer Science are highly preferred.
Must be highly driven and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy under pressure
Must possess quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to understand contract terms and their impact to risk
Intermediate programming skills (i.e. R and/or VBA Scripting), database knowledge (i.e. structure, SQL) where the candidate will read and modify scripts as needed
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members

Preferred Skills

Experience in the Insurance or Financial Industries 
Fixed Income knowledge and understanding of underlying credit sectors and their dynamics
Knowledge on data structures and experience with data ingestion techniques
Knowledge of Insurance products (e.g. Separate Accounts, Synthetics) and associated regulatory issues concerning those products
Risk underwriting experience
