Job Summary
AECOM's Hunt Valley MD office is hiring an Electrical Engineering Manager to oversee the electrical design team with a focus on high-performance buildings within multiple sectors including Corporate Workplace and Commercial buildings, Federal Civilian and DoD, Mission Critical, K-12, Aviation, local and State agency projects.
Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
Performs various management and leadership responsibilities for the Electrical Engineering Department. Has full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating technical assignments
Requires multi-disciplinary knowledge of engineering. Plans and develops engineering tasks concerned with unique or controversial problems. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation and development of novel concepts and approaches
Maintains liaison with units within the organization and individuals inside and outside of the organization.
Responsible for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to their field
Works under minimal supervision. Supervision received is essentially administrative with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits
Supervises group of engineers and/or technicians, coordinating activities of the unit
Acts as a Senior Engineer leading the design and engineering efforts for various projects
Assist in business development activities
Assist in proposal preparation in conjunction with the senior leadership of the office
Writing reports for internal and external purposes based on findings
Works cooperatively with managers and other employees to achieve company's mission
Ensures discipline plans that are created meet overall project team requirements for project scope, schedule, and Quality
Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the electrical and fire alarm disciplines
Ensures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction
Develops designs within a BIM design environment
Review junior team member's work for quality and recognition of training requirements
Lead junior engineers in engineering design development and professional growth

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus eight (8) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Professional Engineer (PE) registration
Preferred Qualifications
Ten (10) years of electrical engineering experience within a consulting or design-build firm
Excellent communication skills
Experience managing an Electrical Engineering Department is strongly preferred
Presentation experience with clients
Experience with Revit and AutoCAD based design projects
Competent in all conventional aspects of electrical engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria
Experience in the following markets: DoD, Healthcare and Labs, Corporate Commercial / Mixed Use.
Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills
Experience with sustainable design
Documented experience with advanced design, and aesthetically challenging design with high profile architecture firms
Analyze equipment energy use for optimizing systems selection
