The Director will report to the VP, Head of Absence Management, and could be based in Hartford, CT, Alpharetta, GA, or remotely within in the United States.
Responsibilities:
Sets Core Disability product strategy, in collaboration with Absence Product leadership team and key business partners, including driving Disability insured and service product strategy, value proposition, and product design
Maintain competitive intelligence, customer feedback and market trends; identify and evaluate new product opportunities
P&L owner accountable for all aspects of The Hartford’s Disability Product suite, including sales growth, earnings growth, and operational execution across the entire Group Benefits organization
Lead key Disability product related initiatives across the broader Group Benefits organization, including new product development: upgrades and updates to existing products, strategies to increase product participation, ensuring that products are compliant
Leads and inspires Disability Product Management team and provide cross-functional leadership of aligned functional resources across the matrix
Work with internal partners and external organizations to represent The Hartford’s position on issues impacting our products or market viability
Qualifications:
Minimum of seven years of experience in Group Benefits Product Management or related industry experience, including experience in product management, strategic planning or business line leadership, experience with long- and short-term disability products required
Demonstrated superior analytical & problem-solving skills, including the ability to innovate around products, processes, and solutions. Demonstrated ability to think strategically and implement and successfully manage change
Financially astute; has an excellent command of product economics and financial concepts, and how they tie to operational initiatives; able to identify and capture potential market opportunities, while balancing operational and financial constraints
Proven track record of leadership and delivering results through a cross-functional team
Strong presentation, interpersonal and relationship management skills with an emphasis on customer focus, collaboration and partnering to obtain results
A bachelor’s degree preferably in a discipline requiring critical thinking and analytical skills; a MBA is desirable but not required.
Able and willing to travel of up to 10% of time for market travel; up to 20% of the time if located outside Home Office
