About the Role

You will serve as a primary Model Risk Governance contact. This role is critical in mitigating model risk by monitoring model inventory and ensuring model risk governance adherence. You will do this by creating partnerships with line of business owners, model developers, model owners, model vendors, and model users fostering relationships across the organization.

What You Can Expect

In this role, you will support the strategic objectives of the Model Risk Management Department (“MRM”) and provide support to the Manager of MRM in the areas of MRM Policies and Standards. You will promote model risk management practices that balance rewards with existing and emerging risks. You will provide communication, guidance, and training of Model Risk policy throughout the Bank.

How You'll Spend Your Time

You will Administer Model Risk Management database/tables and inventory.
You will research relevant industry, financial services, and regulatory issues to build upon knowledge base, identifying trends, and shares insights with the team.
You will assist with the development and administration of Model Risk Management training and education initiatives.
You will provide recommendations to the Manager, Model Risk Management, aspects warranting critical risk control improvements.

Education & Experience Requirements

The required level of knowledge is normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Engineering or Mathematics 

General knowledge of financial theory, statistics, principals of corporate finance and their applicability to financial institutions 
General knowledge of model risk management
Excellent decision making, problem solving and organizational skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong leadership and team building skills
Extensive PC and software skills:  working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required; familiarity with and ability to apply basic database coding using SQL and/or VBA required; willingness to further refine, knowledge of database software, statistical packages and programming languages such as R, or Python desired
