Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is seeking a Senior Optical Systems Engineer (Level 5) in Seal Beach, CA to lead the design and development of new and complex optical systems. You will work with highly capable and motivated teams across the full span of product life cycles, from initial concept development to operations. This position requires strong technical skills in optics, including infrared/electro-optical, visible and optics technology (focal plane arrays, optical design, optical components, pointing systems, signal processing). This position requires an individual with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Primary Responsibilities

* Perform full life-cycle systems engineering (develop initial concept, develop system and subsystem requirements & verification, and support operation of the delivered products)
* Develop concept of operations (CONOPS) and mature throughout the life cycle
* Develop optics and optical designs
* Performs electrical, mechanical and software design and development concepts
* Design, integration, and test of complex optical systems
* Supplier technical management
* Customer engagement
* New business development, including IR&D and proposal development
* Working across a diverse team with many different skill sets
* Must be willing to travel (occasionally as high as 25)This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance with a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) that has been successfully completed within the last 6 years. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications (Required skills/experience)

* Bachelor Degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics is required.
* Ten (10) or more years of experience with optical system design and related technologies, including performing analysis on optical systems and conducting trade studies and system optimization.
* Demonstrated experience leading a small project.Preferred Qualifications (Desired skills/experience)

* Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics or physics and experience in a professional exempt engineering classification is preferred.
* Five (5) or more years of experience with requirements analysis and flow-down.
* Experience presenting complex technical information

Typical Education & Experience

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification:Bachelors Degree,14 or more years experience Masters Degree, with 12 or more years experience or PhD, with 9 or more years experience.Bachelor, master or doctorate of science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
