Are you passionate about data protection and privacy? How about unleashing your skills in a hugely successful business that is committed to moving money for better? Join Western Union as our Head of Privacy, Legal (Technology).
Motivated by our values: purpose driven, globally minded, and trustworthy & respectful
We’re a FinTech that’s using insight from customers and colleagues worldwide to improve financial services for families, small businesses, multinational corporations, and non-profit organizations. We’re a team of over 10,000 people spanning 200 countries and territories. We believe when money moves, better things happen.
Better requires process, discipline, and simplification
You will oversee a team of legal privacy experts and be responsible for leading the overall Privacy Legal function. You will act as a thought leader in developing privacy and data protection policies, processes, and assessments and will directly liaise with regulators on new initiatives and compliance issues. In this position, you will be a trusted partner helping to drive strategic technology initiatives, as well as the development and design of technology-related products. You’ll liaise between technology, business, and legal functions to ensure customer expectations and global regulations are met. You will provide legal guidance to our executive management team on privacy and information governance and represent the global privacy program on Western Union committees. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to address complex regulatory and legal issues as you create and support company-wide strategies and make privacy by design a reality.
For such a critical role you must be a certified privacy expert. Generally, this role requires someone with over 10 years post qualification experience within legal privacy and technology, ideally with some exposure to financial services. However, all candidates who can demonstrate the relevant skill set will be considered. Demonstrated experience supporting a global privacy program is required, as is experience as a people manager. You will need to demonstrate an understanding of business risk, as well as the ability to work with highly complex legal issues. You will need to communicate effectively on legal matters with legal and non-legal professionals at all levels of management and utilize analytical skills to offer a consultative approach to your work. Previous experience of agile working methodologies is also desirable.
