PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Provide direction and leadership for a comprehensive Vegetation Management program. Manage the personnel and activities of the Vegetation Management Department. Ensure the successful implementation and execution of vegetation-related projects for Transmission, Gas, and Right of Way Maintenance and Snow Removal (as needed or as required) using a project management approach. Assure the development and effective implementation of strategic initiatives. Assure the focus and attainment of business goals and objectives. Develop and maintain an environment that promotes diversity and high productivity.

Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
* Drives and oversees the development and implementation of short and long term strategic initiatives designed to assure the highest levels of customer services and to achieve Exelons safety, reliability and performance goals.
* Manage the designated budget. Establish and monitor business plans and business unit objectives.
* Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high performance culture and a learning organization. Leads team in promoting diversity. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions.
* Provide leadership to and development of direct reports. Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct performance planning and appraisals. Identify opportunities for growth and learning.
* Establish, maintain and improve relationships with other departments in Exelon and external stakeholders.
* Facilitates open and honest communication with staff. Assures that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee concerns and complaints. Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
* Interfaces with external customers and regulators to improve relationships, resolve operational issues, and ensure vegetation management program activities and initiatives are implemented as planned.

JOB SCOPE
* Manage an operating budget of $11M (PHI) designated by line item to achieve all program and corporate goals, and mandated requirements.
* Assist Supply Organization in the development and negotiation of contracts for vegetation management, and snow removal activities (as needed or required).
* Manage the performance of multiple project teams through Sr. Vegetation Management Project Managers and Foresters with indirect supervision of contract personnel.
* Develop and implement innovative strategic initiatives that ensure continued reliability improvement and cost saving opportunities.
* Ensure contractor activities are in alignment with all safety and quality expectations as outlined in contract terms & conditions.
* Interface with internal and external key stakeholders including senior management, governmental and regulatory officials.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelors degree in a technical or business discipline
* At least 8 years of industry experience, including at least 3 years as a supervisor or manager.
* Demonstrated experience managing relationships.
* Demonstrated knowledge of strategic planning and execution.
* Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and presentation skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Associates Degree in Forestry/Natural Resources
* Demonstrated utility or vegetation management experience (8-10 years minimum utility Vegetation Management experience)
* International Society of Arboriculture Certification requirement.
* Project Management skills
