The prospectus area is charged with the task of developing and filing prospectuses and prospectus supplements for variable life insurance products with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for new products, enhancements to existing products, and annual product filings.  The prospectus fully explains how the product and features work. 

The incumbent is responsible for analysis, research, development, the automated filing and the accuracy of a detailed prospectus and related documents. The scope of this position also includes coordination to ensure that business, operations, actuarial, and legal areas are in agreement that prospectuses and related documents are complete and accurate and that financial sign off has been secured by the financial coordinator prior to filing with the SEC.   

The incumbent is also responsible for calculating, validating and tracking of department inflows and outflows of expenses related to department fund-related expenditures.    

Additional responsibilities may include special projects and business as usual type projects. Some overtime is likely to be necessary in January through April for annual prospectus filings, and occasionally during the rest of the year as well. 

Qualifications:

1-2 years of insurance background or accounting experience required
Very good verbal and written communication skills are required.  The ability to understand and write complex technical material in a clear concise manner is very important. Be prepared to show examples of technical material you researched and developed if you get an interview.
Strong interpersonal skills will be needed to develop and maintain working relationships with people of widely varying levels, backgrounds, and skills.
Very strong analytical and research skills.
Results oriented with project planning experience.
Ability to work independently and with management to define, plan and manage complex projects.
Knowledge of Prudential’s individual variable life insurance portfolio would be a significant plus.
In depth knowledge of at least one of the following would be helpful: SEC filings, variable product law, regulatory or compliance expertise.
Technically oriented with a proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Adobe software.
