Primary Responsibilities
* Verifies eligibility and benefits for each referral
* Inputs all referrals into computer and generates hard copy
* Provides referral and authorization to external providers
* Communicates authorization status to patients
* Organizes and maintains filing system of authorization/referral hard copies
* Provides information required for denial letters to clerical staff for patients whose benefits do not cover requested services
* Inputs ICD9 codes and CPT codes in computer for referral
* Prepares assigned correspondence and reports and compiles statistical data as directed
* Tracks all types of references on computer system on hard copy log and compiles statistics monthly
* Maintains good attendance
* Represents department/group and organization in a professional and positive manner
* Supports and facilitates teamwork within the department/group and the organization
* Participates in scheduled departmental/group meetings
* Assist in areas of authorization process such as triage, paper flow and research.

Required Qualifications
* High school graduate or G.E.D.
* 1 years of Medical Experience
* 1 years of Healthcare Operations experience
* You will be asked to perform this role in an office setting or other company location
* Employees are required to screen for symptoms using the ProtectWell mobile app, Interactive Voice Response (i.e., entering your symptoms via phone system) or a similar UnitedHealth Group-approved symptom screener prior to entering the work site each day, in order to keep our work sites safe. Employees must comply with any state and local masking orders. In addition, when in a UnitedHealth Group building, employees are expected to wear a mask in areas where physical distancing cannot be attained

Preferred Qualifications

1 years of experience do you have working in a billing, collections, customer service-related environment OR working in a professional/military setting using a computer and telephone
1 years of Prior authorization experience
Proficient with MS Word, Outlook, Clinical Databases, and Internet Explorer
