About the Role

As a Senior Mortgage Loan Processor, you will verify Borrower’s information on the loan application within Federal, Insurer or Institutional guidelines.  You’ll partner with the Mortgage Banker, Borrower, Underwriting and Closing teams. You will interact with third party vendors to order or update credit reports, automated underwriting decisions, flood certifications, appraisals, title work, fraud compliance and tax return verification. 

Your ingenuity positions you well to perform well in a variety of roles. You will provide support to the Loan Processors at the direction of management. A commitment to providing top notch customer service to the Borrower’s is crucial. You consistently follow up with all parties to ensure a positive experience. The Senior Mortgage Loan Processor has tight schedules, often 21-30 day start to finish timeline working on different loans simultaneously, all at different stages.

What You Can Expect

Each day will bring variety. You will encounter diverse personalities in this role working with our mortgage bankers, borrowers, underwriters, closers, third party vendors, and more. You will provide assistance to the processors when they need it. You are the puzzle piece that completes a final evaluation and prepares the file for approval.  You also ensure the underwriting department has all information to review and approve appraisals.

You are the true partner to the Borrower and will have constant communication and follow up. You will review underwriting conditions with the Borrower and obtain additional documents as needed to meet the remaining conditions prior to the loan closing.  Your strong work ethic and efficiency will ensure final approval from underwriting.  You will monitor all approvals to ensure timely delivery to the Borrowers to meet minimum federal guidelines. Upon approval, you or the Mortgage Banker will contact the Borrower to confirm the closing date.

You will use multiple systems to navigate and produce a seamless process. Pipeline management of the mortgage application process, deep knowledge of federal guidelines and prioritizing will ensure that we meet the Borrower’s expectations and ultimately, close on time.

How You'll Spend Your Time

You will be the main point of contact for the borrower and be responsible for obtaining, reconciling, and validating all required documentation for a Mortgage application as defined by a specific product.
You will be monitoring the files in process for 30-day activity status to insure that Regulation B Guidelines are enforced on all files, including final evaluation after complex analysis of completed application package and preparing for approval.
You will input all appraisal information into the computer system to ensure that the underwriting department has all information to review and approve appraisal.
You will conduct a thorough review of underwriting conditions with the borrower prior to closing the loan. Upon approval, you or the mortgage banker will contact the borrower to give the approval and confirm closing date.
You will use your advanced knowledge of mortgage loan processing experience in supporting the processing team.

Education & Experience Requirements

This level of advanced mortgage loan knowledge is normally acquired through high school and a minimum of 5 - 7 years of mortgage loan processing experience, which should include 6 years of prior operational support and/or loan documentation review experience in a mortgage lending institution or a real estate or title agency.
