SCOPE/PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Reporting to the MultiCloud Engineering Leader, the MultiCloud Automation Engineer is a technologist who will function as an SME working closely with operations engineers and applications teams to build modern private and public cloud solutions that can handle the requirements for a global company. You will help onboard existing business units into cloud native technologies leveraging infrastructure as code techniques for fast provisioning of systems and cloud services.
The MultiCloud team is streamlining how Corning approaches infrastructure as service. We are standardizing on modern industry-proven practices and codifying them for ease of consumption. The team is working to empower applications teams via self-service capabilities for infrastructure requirements.
Responsibility will include developing code to support the migration of application to our state of the art data center as this year's strategy and design efforts to define the Corning MultiCloud solution, as well as to help deliver several complex people, process and technology related activities critical to being ready to support initial release and subsequent migration of applications to the multi-cloud solution
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create cloud infrastructure and configuration as code to automate provisioning and scaling processes
Develop script and tools as needed to for integration with datacenter core services, automated pipelines and testing tools
Develop workflows and integrations with other supporting system using VRealize Orchestrator & VRealize Automation
Automate virtual machine and container images lifecycle management to enforce standards, security across both public and private cloud
Develop solutions for continuously monitoring, alerting and performance reporting
Build APIs or Integration with platforms such as, CMDB, Firewalls, DNS, IPAM, AD and Public Cloud Services
In partnership with Corning architecture, helps gather requirements, define options and develop holistic integrated solutions to complex business challenges.
Helps promote a consistent vision and strategy throughout the organization
Builds relationships that foster collaboration and partnerships to drive better strategies, priorities, and service to the customer
Assists and oversees quality change control according to Corning Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management and Disaster recovery Methodology
Mentors members of the Infrastructure team on architectural, engineering and operational best practices
Provides escalated support for Business-Critical problems
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year college in computer science or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
2+ years' of experience developing solutions on public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) platforms
2+ years' experience in scripting like powershell, unix scripting and python to automate development-related task
1+ year experience with API technologies (REST, JSON, XML)

Experience creating automated scripts and software. Experience with automation and orchestration tools like Terraform, Ansible Chef etc.

Previous experience with deploying hybrid or multi-cloud solutions with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Knowledge of and experience building CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, etc.
