Job Description Summary

The Lead Field Service Engineer (FSE) will provide technical expertise and engineering to support the Power Conversion Service business to support a Government and commercial marine customers to resolve issues, strive for customer satisfaction, on time delivery and drive marine service growth. You will report to the FSE Manager and manage existing work items to support customers and field engineering team on drive system maintenance, system maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.

Roles and Responsibilities
As Lead Field Service Engineer, you will:
* Lead and support field service staff and customers on GE Power Conversion Drive system problems, focusing on variable drive technology
* Lead and support customers onsite and remotely regarding Drive system problems. Reach back to CoE as appropriate
* Identify new opportunities & drive development of effective offerings to improve in-service equipment reliability / availability
* Provide technical support for new unit installation / startup and other outage work scopes
* Work with customer personnel (Operations, Engineering, Training, and Purchasing) to resolve customer product issues, maximize availability of plants, and maximize purchased services provided by GE
* Manage, develop, and lead customer facing initiatives to deliver the best possible customer service
* Develop enduring and faithful customer relationships, while improving project profitability
* Partner with cross-functional leaders (Engineering, Parts, Repairs, Projects) to drive the right actions and provide prompt resolution to customer issues utilizing best practices and processes
* Be a self-motivated team player who can drive cross functional teams and communicate the results effectively to customers
* Record product issues and provide feedback to Engineering and Quality, identifying ongoing problems and common faults across similar products, Analyze risks, establish contingency plans, and identify trigger events and responsibility for initiating mitigation action
* Oversee that warranty and service obligations are met, including; timely delivery, quality, compliance with contract scope, and expected profitability of the service order

Required Qualifications

* Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university (or Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university with a minimum 2 additional years of related industry experience)
* Minimum 3 years of field service and/or commissioning experience

Eligibility Requirements

* Must be a US Citizen. Due to the nature of the work being performed this role requires the individuals to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is US Citizenship.

Desired Characteristics

* Minimum of 5 years of experience with GE Drive systems {With 2 years practicable working knowledge of at least one GE Power Conversion drive system (Including:MV3000, MV7000, SD7000, U7000, VDM25000 or LV5000)}
* Minimum of 2 years practicable working knowledge of at least one GE Power Conversion drive / system controller (Including PEC, PECe, CDC or AMC)
* Background in a customer facing position, within a Service environment
* Field Service and Commissioning experience with drives and/or power and/or automation systems and/or dynamic positioning
* Ability to execute increasingly complicated assignments, which require considerable engineering skill and creative ability and independent judgment
* Possess detailed knowledge, competence and expertise with installation and commissioning tasks and services
* Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Office applications
* Ability to learn and follow defined departmental policies, procedures and practices
