Job Description Summary
The Lead Electromagnetic Engineer is responsible for the electromagnetic design and analysis of gradient coils used in MRI systems. This role will work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, manufacture, and service complex state-of-the-art MRI systems and components throughout all phases of the product development lifecycle through analysis, simulation, prototyping, and testing. The Lead Electromagnetic Engineer will learn gradient coil and MRI theory and apply engineering principals to achieve expertise in Electromagnetic Engineering, and investigates new techniques and methods to find business solutions for the MRI industry.

Job Description
Responsibilities:
* Perform electromagnetic design and analysis of gradient coils used in MRI systems
* Develop gradient coil hardware specifications
* Develop innovative design solutions to meet all electromagnetic requirements for performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability
* Develop and verify new gradient technologies
* Work seamlessly with cross functional teams of mechanical, structural, thermal, and manufacturing engineers to ensure designs meet all requirements
* Interface with gradient amplifier team to ensure compatibility of the gradient coil with the gradient driver
* Initiate and lead technical design reviews
* Perform simulation and design verification activities using various data acquisition systems for new gradient technologies
* Work with technical experts across the MR organization to implement tactical and strategic initiatives
* Provide creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues from both factory and fieldQualifications:
* MS Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
* 4 years engineering experience in a related field
* Strong software skills with proficiency in MATLAB and/or other analysis packages such as COMSOL.
* Direct design & analysis experience
Desired Characteristics
* Experience in gradient coil design or MR imaging physics
* Strong software skills with proficiency in Opera3D, COMSOL, C++ and/or other FEA analysis packages
* Experience in numerical analysis tools and optimization methods.
* Ability to lead, plan and execute small design, design change, cost reduction or problem resolution projects
* Experience with PWA/PWB and subsystem design techniques for signal integrity and EMC Circuit design and simulation tool experience
* Knowledge of UL/ETL/IEC standards and how they apply to designs
* Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification.
* Understanding of validation per FDA guidelines for medical devices
* Ability to work with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams
* Leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
