Summary

The Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for the operations of secure and highly available compute, storage, and directory services platforms whether on premise or in the cloud. They install, maintain, upgrade, and continuously improve the Company’s operating infrastructure. They will utilize expert level experience and knowledge of IT infrastructure configuration, administration and best practices combined with strong, current and deep experience with Servers, Storage, Virtualization, AD, Azure and Microsoft 365 tenants to assist with the design, development and deployment of Simon Property Group's infrastructure solutions.

The role must have strong technological and analytical skills with the ability to understand comparative technologies to properly assess feasibility of migrating solutions to or from on premise and cloud platforms.

Challenges and Responsibilities

Participates in design of infrastructure solutions by gathering business requirements, translating to infrastructure requirements, and evaluating against capabilities of existing environments.

Defines and ensures implementation of data replication and business continuity processes including backups

Monitors performance and analyzes data from monitoring solutions to proactively identify uptime issues, and make recommendations for eliminating those issues.

Participates in overall project planning, tracking, issues resolution, vendor coordination

Assist with design, development, migration, management and support of Azure/O365 tenant.

Works with vendors and architects to understand their technology roadmaps

Provide third tier help desk support as needed for the infrastructure

Assist in the collection and preservation of asset tracking, inventory and licensing.

Participate in the evolution and continuous improvement of the Change Control/Change Management process

Assist in design and development of infrastructure monitoring, reporting, and automation tools for infrastructure services.

Ensures documentation is developed and maintained.

Troubleshoot problems as reported by users and maintaining a secure systems environment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics

Thorough knowledge Servers, Storage, Virtualization, AD, Azure and Microsoft 365.

Thorough knowledge of Hypervisors and associated automation technologies.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and effectively participate in a team environment

Must be able to plan, organize and coordinate appropriate resources as needed for projects

Knowledge of system management tools and scripting.

Knowledge of various operating systems and applications (Windows Server, VMWare, Citrix)

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or equivalent work experience

5 or more years of experience in infrastructure/systems environments role; 3 years of that experience as a primary system administrator for Virtualization and/or Cloud platform.

Experience with design and implementation of enterprise Data Centers

Hands on experience zoning fiber switches and presenting SAN storage

Hands on experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure tenant configuration/management

Strong knowledge of networks, operating systems, system monitoring, security and technology infrastructure;

Desired Microsoft Certifications include Office 365 MCSA, MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure or equivalent

Knowledge and experience troubleshooting these platforms: Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive for Business, Azure, PowerShell
