Enbridge is looking for an experienced Wind Turbine Technician to join their team at the New Creek Wind Farm. The Wind Turbine Technician III will be responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of the turbines and Balance of Plant (BOP) at New Creek Wind. This position is a fully qualified level of the Wind Turbine Technicians. This position will be an advanced technician and may possess specialized knowledge in performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on the wind turbines with a goal of maximizing uptime and production.

What You Will Do:

Safety:

Adhere to Enbridge safety standards, procedures and ensure a positive safety culture.

Assist in leading the execution of work in accordance with safe work practices, including electrical safety, at heights, control of hazardous energy, confined space, and cargo management.

Demonstrate integrity, strong initiative, work ethic, as well as a focus on safety and quality of work on a continuous basis.

Specific Operations and Maintenance Tasks:

As an advanced technician you will ensure performance and maintenance of wind turbines at the New Creek Wind

As an advanced technician you will assist in leading and training staff on:

Completion of scheduled / standard work such as regular maintenance

troubleshooting of turbines

completion of asset integrity inspections

completion of unscheduled (minor and major) work

electrical switching of turbines

Utilization of SCADA to support required work

You will also assist in leading the support activities related to the Balance of Plant (substation, collector system and switchyard) and civil work. 

Work Execution:

Follow defined instructions and maintenance schedules, executing plans as directed and perform tasks according to reasonably detailed written and verbal instructions.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify risks and gaps in task execution in the operational environment of a Wind Turbine facility and apply mitigation methods with appropriate oversight.

Who You Are:

A High School Diploma with applied mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, or equivalent experience.  College Diploma or Technical School Certificate beneficial.

As a Level III technician, you will have at least 5 years of relevant work experience and the following minimum qualifications related to wind turbines:

Advanced skills with Scheduled / Standard work

Seasoned troubleshooting (basic and advanced)

Advanced skills with Asset Integrity inspections:

Advanced skills with Unscheduled maintenance (minor and major)

Advanced skills with Turbine electrical switching

Advanced skills with SCADA

Specific experience on Siemens Gamesa G90 2.0 MW and G97 2.1MW Wind Turbines

Sophisticated understanding of wind power related systems, including, but not limited to pneumatics, hydraulics, gearboxes, electrical, mechanical and power plant systems.  Including the ability to read, interpret and understand drawings and schematics.

Good interpersonal skills.

Strong attention to detail

Proven problem solving and time management skills. 

Able to optimally collaborate with employees at all professional levels and ability to respectfully follow supervision.

Working Conditions:

Although the incumbent will be assigned to New Creek Wind in particular, the technician may be called to travel to other Enbridge facilities as needed.

Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Passport.

Role will require being on-call (24/7) to respond to emergencies and/or maintenance needs of the site (on a pre-determined, scheduled basis).

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Balancing, bending and stooping, climbing, crawling, carrying (up to 50 pounds), grasping, kneeling, lifting (objects 50 pounds), pulling hand over hand, pushing, reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, walking, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Must meet requirements of fit for work which includes, but is not limited to, demonstrating hand, arm, back and leg coordination needed to ascend and descend a wind tower and complying with a weight restriction of 132 kg (or 290lb) total climbing weight. Comfort working in enclosed spaces and at heights of 300 ft. Employee understands that these requirements may be modified at the Company's discretion.
