Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to ensure that all equipment and materials are delivered on site, on time, within budget This position will be responsible for direct purchases, equipment rentals, chemicals, catalysts and spare parts for the Refinery or Nitrogen operations. Accountabilities include establishing and maintaining supplier and vendor relationships to ensure cost effective and efficient use of company funds.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

BS/BA degree in Supply Chain/Purchasing/Logistics, Business Accounting or Technical Fields is preferred
Professional certifications are a plus (APICS, CP1M, etc.)

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

5+ years' experience in Procurement/Logistics/Inventory
9+ years' experience in Procurement/Logistics/Inventory in lieu of degree
Working knowledge of procurement systems, purchasing policies/procedures, and purchasing law is required
Must have advance skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office suites
Proven ability to work as part of a team for the successful completion of projects
Must have strong relationship development, client management, supplier risk management, and communication skills
Must have abilities in negotiation, team building, innovation, and change management
Desired candidate will have demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive complex projects to closure within deadlines
Must exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills, sharp analytical skills, and robust problem-solving skills
Fluent in English, both oral and written required
Ability to resolve increasingly complex problems
Ability to adjust work schedule to accommodate unexpected changes
Good materials management principles and practices (APICS a plus)

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

Process and review requisitions for Refinery or Nitrogen operations material and warehouse restocking
Support MRO and spot buys through discrete orders, as needed.
Identify, negotiate, and champion cost saving initiatives with assigned supply base in support of budget planning and performance to budget.
Obtains and reviews supplier proposals; makes supplier selection based on those evaluations within authority level limitations.
Execute material planning activities for specified purchased components/materials. Manage optimal material inventory levels to meet customer demand while achieving company inventory targets with minimal shortages.
Coordinates with quality personnel, business units, and suppliers to resolve issues with defective or unacceptable goods and services or other supplier related matters in a timely manner.
Work closely with accounting personnel to ensure accurate cost recording. Perform requested invoice reviews to facilitate accurate and timely vendor payments.
Maintain an assertive follow-up system to ensure schedule compliance. Ensure timely responses to vendor inquiries.
Generate and maintain current and accurate procurement records and documentation to facilitate future purchasing decisions.
Maintain market awareness that can impact changes in prices, trends in supply and demand to make sound supply decisions and report information to purchasing management.
Maintain a professional relationship with suppliers.
Develop supplier relations to become aware of supplier capacity and future capabilities.
Interface with management, supervision, Planning, Quality, Finance, Traffic and Purchasing - Management to achieve the smooth flow of goods and services to ATG to maintain on-time delivery to external customers
Perform other duties as directed by Management
Negotiation and vendor management experience
Solid working knowledge of ERP systems (Maximo and Oracle a highly preferred)
Good materials management principles and practices (APICS a plus)
Handle material requisitions with logistic requirements per the requestor's requirements
Expedite material as needed
Defines Request for Quotes (RFQ) packages and issued purchase orders (PO)
Contacts carriers and receiving location to secure equipment necessary for loading, transit, and unloading of material
Regularly communicate and collaborate with Manager progress statuses, concerns and questions

Provide effective communication and support to process units and maintenance for reliable, safe production within the refinery

It primarily markets UAN products to agricultural customers; and ammonia products to agricultural and industrial customers. CVR Energy, Inc. was founded in 1906 and is based in Sugar Land, Texas.
