Job Summary
Amentum is currently seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer for our Richland, WA location.
The purpose and scope of this position is to:
Independently function as a safety instrumented system expert, performing a variety of engineering assignments in planning, development, design, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of safety instrumentation and safety instrumented systems, predominantly for Department of Energy non-reactor nuclear facilities.
Essential Responsibilities:
1) Independently provide expert safety instrument and safety instrumented system support to internal or external customers.
2) Independently develop technical specifications, technical reports, Safety Integrity Level verification & measurement uncertainty calculations to support SIS & safety instrumentation.
3) Independently generate design concepts and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis for safety instrumented systems.
4) Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
5) Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
6) Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
7) Direct interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
8) Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
9) Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
10) Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
11) Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.

Most positions involve work typical of office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must posses planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in Engineering or related scientific field and at least 10 years of job-related experience with at least 5 years developing safety instrumented systems. Current ISA-84 Expert certificate, Current Certified Functional Safety Expert (CSFE) qualification or demonstrable SIS experience at expert level. Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
