The Buyer is responsible for analyzing and purchasing the incoming flow of materials, MRO items and other manufacturing components to support the production schedule. The Buyer uses the PFEP (Plan for Every Part) to develop and implement strategies to keep inventory at an optimal level to support production and customer orders while optimizing inventory as a percent of sales. Scope/Supervision and Interaction: Does Not Have Direct Reports Position will report to the Materials Planning Manager
– Davenport and interact intra-divisionally with operations and supply chain.
- Manage the monthly PFEP, ensuring historical usage and forecast are included to best plan for changes in material demand.
- Maintain Kanban ordering systems to ensure appropriate inventory levels are held. Suggests items for addition / deletion from Kanban.
- Purchase parts, equipment and materials by submitting orders (POs direct to vendors and internal transfers).
- Responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of open orders (Kanban included). - Works with supplying plants to communicate demand changes
- Provides parts, equipment and materials information by answering questions and requests.
- Prepares reports by collection, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Responsible for inventory levels. Generates tracking reports and performs data entry and analysis as required.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities and provides suggestions for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- 4 year college degree in Supply Chain management or relevant discipline.
- Experience and/or exposure to supply chain and manufacturing concepts and methodologies.
-Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices and recommend proper automation opportunities.
-Must have advanced computer skills and be able to understand of electronic processing.
-Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
