Job Description

Working out of our Chevy Chase, MD/Washington DC office, under general supervision the responsibilities of the incumbent Senior Pharmacy Data Analyst will:

Evaluate existing Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM) agreements
Benchmark against comparators and evaluate proposals, and support negotiations
Prepare annual review including but not limited to: claims data, plan information, and contracts to prepare annual market checks
Prepare detailed analysis of new rates, guarantees and proposed terms to evaluate planned versus actual performance 
Identify ways to reduce costs and bring transparency to drug spend 
Focus areas include but may not be limited to: Improve clinical outcomes and patient experience, clinical, network, drug pricing and administrative costs
Identify key discrepancies and cost outliers in existing formularies, benefit structure analyses/cost, and utilization impact of formulary change in evaluation of request for proposals from third party bidders; identify finalists, negotiate and analyze best and final offers and select winning bidder(s)

Requirements:

Bachelor’s - Master’s preferred – Preferred Discipline: Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, Economics, Analytics or Statistics
4+ Years pharmacy or medical data analysis
1+ Years' advanced experience in SQL and/or SAS
1+ Years’ Experience with visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, etc.)
Experience with pharmacy (NDC, AWP, WAC, etc.), Medical Codes: (ICD-10, CP4, HCPC, etc.) and related revenue codes
Knowledge of pharmacy medical claims reimbursement, claim adjudication and downstream analyses
Experience with pharmacy formularies, drug lists, pharmacy benefits and configurations, drug pricing, specialty drugs, rebates, eligibility
Familiarity with pharmacy and provider networks: NCPDP Data, Medi-Span Data, FDB Data, and RJ Health Data
Strong technical and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Ability to incorporate large data sets from multiple channels
Ability to present technical content to non-technical audiences
Effective time management while working multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient with Microsoft suite and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Working knowledge of HIPAA, PHI and PPI, SOC1, SOC2, and HITRUST guidelines and descriptive statistical application and techniques
Possess intellectual curiosity, innovation and creativity
