The Staff Accountant supports the Accounting Operations team in various aspects but will spend the majority of their time assisting with the Company’s commissions process. The Company is growing at a rapid pace and the loan accounting team is continuing to evolve to meet the needs of the Company. This Staff Accountant my also assist with cash accounting and will assist with the preparation and recording of loan accounting journal entries.
What you will be doing:
Primary role and responsibilities:
Calculate commissions according to employee agreements.
Calculate the monthly accrual for commissions payable
Prepare monthly commission schedules for salespeople for their commission payouts
Perform monthly close activities, including recording of journal entries, account reconciliations, analytical analysis, and variance review
Secondary role and responsibilities may include any or all of the following:
Performing the accounting for the complete loan processing cycle which includes:
Calculate mortgage servicing rights according to the Company’s model
Recording journal entries for the loan activity at rate lock, loan closing, and loan sell/book entry date
Assisting the loan accounting team to identify and implement process improvements
Assist with system implementations as needed
Support the loan accounting team’s general accounting duties as needed
Communicate and problem-solve daily with teammates, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders, often in combination with travel

The education and experience we’re looking for:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting or finance
2 plus years’ accounting experience
