What We're Looking For
This position requires knowledge of the NCDOT project delivery process, strong communication skills, the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, and the engineering knowledge and technical skills necessary to ensure high-quality deliverables are developed on time and on budget.
Task Lead for preparation of project plans and specifications related to ITS elements such as fiber-optic cable systems, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras, Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and detection systems; inclusive of all sub components including but not limited to splice details, voltage drop calculations, one-line electrical diagrams, etc.
Perform Construction Engineering & Inspection tasks related to ITS field device, fiber-optic infrastructure, and toll site infrastructure.
Assist in designing communications systems between field devices/toll sites and central operations centers
Perform design calculations and conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct preparation of design specifications
Perform quantity estimates, detailing and check calculations and drawings
Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments
Collaborates and effectively communicates with multi-disciplinary teams within the office and across a variety of NCDOT business units
Meets schedule milestones, budget constraints and quality benchmarks on assigned projects and tasks
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Master's degree in Engineering
PE
Construction Engineering & Inspection
ArcView GIS
NCDOT or Toll Agency Experience
MicroStation Experience
Connected & Autonomous Vehicle Experience
Cisco Network Switching Experience

Essential Responsibilities:
Responsible for the delivery of project discipline scope elements within budget and schedule.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work. Guides team to overall project objectives.
Serves as technical liaison with client at staff level for work within the discipline.
Assists with project management duties.
Performs other duties as assigned.
