Job Details

Certified Medical Assistant functioning in a role accountable for providing comprehensive, family-centered care to patients and families in the pediatric orthopedic Outpatient Department. Must have current proficiency in pediatric phlebotomy.

Assessment
• Assists providers, nursing and other health care professionals with procedures and the intake and depart processes. Accurately documents findings during the intake process in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
Clinic Prep
• Responsible for prepping clinic in timely manner to be prepared for that day’s clinic.
• Records accurate information on all charge sheets.
• Assists with monitoring supplies and equipment.
• Maintains equipment and notifies manager when new equipment is needed.
• Assists in ordering cast supplies.
• Sets up and cleans up the cast room.
Documentation
• Uses computer to enter patient information into the EMR in an accurate and timely manner.
Patient Care
• Utilizes good clinical judgment to identify problems and interventions with patients/families and referral to RN as needed.
• Demonstrates skills necessary to assist with casting, splinting, and dressing application, removal and cleaning in an ambulatory clinic in a hospital setting.
• Safely removes casts, cleans patient, covers affected limb and instructs family on skin care.
• Assists in the cast room as necessary.
Communication
• Participates in positive and effective communication; demonstrates flexibility of change as required, promotes inter/intra teamwork, works efficiently, and demonstrates integrity.
Accountability
• Consistently meets operational expectations related to attendance, punctuality, meeting attendance, compliance with deadlines, staying current with posted and email communications, etc.
• Demonstrates professional practice and self-development.

High School Diploma Required

1 Year of Relevant Experience Preferred

Medical Assistant Certificate Required

American Association of Medical Assistants Certification (AAMA) Required

Certified in Louisiana

Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 3 months
